Fabric used: Cotton blend from JoAnn fabric clearance rack for 2.50 a yard.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others ? Yes I would make this again next summer if maxi dresses are still in style.

Conclusion: I love this maxi dress! LOL!

Pattern description: Simplicity 3503 Misses knit dress in two lenghts with bodice variations.

Where the instruction easy to follow? Yes I had no troubles.

What did you particularly like or dislike about this pattern?. No dislikes.

Fabric used: Knit fabric from JoAnns once again clearance rack I think it was 2.00 a yard.

Pattern alteration or any design changes you made? No This dress calls for a lining I used the same fabric for the lining.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others ? This is the second time I have made something from this pattern. I don't know it I would sew this again.

Conclusion: This is a great pattern if you like knit maxi dresses or dresses.

Hey guys hope you had a great holiday weekend! We had a barbecue with family and friends. I love when we all get together. Well I did get some sewing in before the holiday.

Pattern: Butterick 5351

Fabric: cotton from JoAnn fabric for 2.50 a yard off the clearance rack.

Conclusion: Super easy dress. It call for a 16" zipper so I did a invisible zipper. I have to say I am getting better with that.

I also did some sewing for my niece.

Pattern: Simplicity Suede 0445

Fabric: cotton from JoAnn fabric for 2.50 a yard.

Conclusion: Super cute and super easy! I think this is a cute skirt that most teenagers would like. It calls for a invisible zipper more practice for me.

In the month of I think March I decided to go natural with my hair without the big chop. Yep no more perms. I made this decision after talking to my dd. My dd is always asking me to put a perm in her hair and I would always say noooo! I told her she didn't need a perm because her hair is beautiful like it is. Sooooo one day she told me if our hair is beautiful why do you have a perm. After that I told her I will not put another perm in my hair.I love it and when I don't love it I put on a wig LOL.The style I have in the pic is a week old twist out. My dd loves that we are doing this together. The things we do for our kids.

I had this pattern since last summer. I have been seeing a lot of the off the shoulders dresses and shirts and I am loving them. So I went to my pattern stash and pulled this out.

Pattern: McCall's 6118 I made view A minus the bow tie.
Misses tunics and sash:Above the mid-knee length one shoulder tunics A B C gathered into band sleeveless tunic A has bow tie, tunic B C have flared sleeveless, tunic B has purchased jewels, tunic C has sash, purchased leggings.

Fabric: mystery fabric from Walmart 1.50 a yard.

Conclusion: As you can see I decided to wear as a dress. See what had happen was when I put the shirt on my dress form I said HMMMMM!LOL! Well I thought it was cute as a dress. And I know myself I rather grab a one piece outfit to wear than a two piece for the summer. But I can still wear it with pants also.
I think this is something I would make again.

Misses slim and flared skirts, each in two lengths.

Fabric: Ladies your mother always told you not to buy no cheap a fabric. Well this fabric I got from JoAnns and it was started fraying as I was sewing it. But I kept with it because I had already started with it. So I will wear this outfit until it fades away. LOL!

Conclusion: This was a fun skirt to make. If I knew how to alter patterns I would have widen it in the hip area a little more. The waist fits great and I love the length I will be making this skirt again.

Butterick 4815
Vest view B
Fitted, lined vest has neckline and front closing variations and princess seams.A: faux collar, double-breasted and ribbon belt. B: back flounce.

Fabric: same as skirt.

Conclusion: Love this vest will make it again. No troubles making this vest.Direction was clear and easy to follow.

IF any of you could give me some names of some good books that teach pattern altering let me know. Thanks!!

It has been some time since I last blog. What have I been up to, if you like to know LOL! I have started working full time and my church made me the youth leader. That all spells I have been soooooo busy that sewing have been put on the back burner for a while. I have cut out a couple things but I never got to sewing it.

So this daddy/daughter dance thing came up and it gave me my sewing mojo back I think!Well I guess I will see! LOL!

I did a button hook instead of hook/eye.

Fabric: Platinum glitter satin from JoAnn fabric.

Notions: 18" zipper, hook and eyes.

Conclusion: This was a very easy dress but I am still trying to master putting in an invisible zipper. All I have to say is one day I will get there. I have to refer to youtube every time I have to put one in. Maybe one day PLEASE!! LOL!

Halloween costume

Finally finally I finished my dd costume Thursday night about 3:00 in the morning.I was so busy I couldn't start until that night anywho I did get it done. She told me no wings and no wand this year. I think this will be her last princess costume. :(

McCall's 4887

I should have taken these picture before she wore this costume out because she got spots all over it and broke the hook off for the button.

Pattern: McCall's 4887 view A.

Fabric: skirt contrast : tulle , vest is satin and lining was cotton.
I used I guess you can call it fabric jewelry on her vest. I used fabric glue to put them on. I couldn't find a lace I wanted to use on her costume so that why we use the jewelry. She said her classmates loved her costume that made me happy.

Hello I am still here just been very busy and still was trying to find my sewing mojo!

Well I did find it, but it took me a month to make this jacket!LOL! I think after I cut it out it took two weeks before I was able to starting sewing on it.

McCall's 5981

Pattern: McCall's 5981 view B size 10

Misses unlined jacket and belt: Close fitting jackets A,B in two lengths have straight shape, front darts, front separating zipper, patch pockets, gathered collar with casting and purchased cording, sleeve in two length with elastic casing: jacket A has three-quarter length sleeves and hip length; jacket B has long sleeves self-belt and tunic length.

Fabric: Fleece (red)

Conclusion: This was a easy jacket! Sewing with fleece can get thick when sewing it that is only problem I had when I was making this jacket.

OH where OH where has my sewing mojo GONE!! Wow haven't been in the mood for any sewing lately. Over the weekend I made a purse for myself out of jeans.

This was a pair of my sons jeans that don't fit him anymore.
I used some sequins and a dollar store pin on it for decorations! I carry this bag on the weekend. I was hoping by making this bag it would jump start my mojo! I did start looking through my patterns to see what I would like to make. That's a start!

Fabric: Knit from walmart 2.00$ a yard.

Conclusion: Very easy to make. I didn't add the bottom ruffle because she didn't want it. So no ruffle. Now it is a semi maxi dress!

I join the Friday Night Sew In on Friday night!! LOL! Well I did get finished last night.

Pattern: See and Sew 4957

Misses Dress and Sash: Semi-fitted, sleeveless flared dress has lined bodice, neckline variations and back zipper closure. Sash has stitched hems.

Fabric: 100% cotton I purchased at walmart for a 1.00 a yard. :)

Notions: 22" zipper. Hooks and Eyes.

Conclusion: Love this pattern this second time around with this dress.

I had so much fun doing this sew in. This is my first time joining any sewing contest. My kids had me laughing when I would stop to do something they would say get to sewing! LOL! My son asked me why I pick something easy. I told him because I didn't join until late late Friday night! LOL!

Maxi dress

Yeah I found a cute easy to make maxi dress!!

Pattern - Simplicity 2616 view A

Size - 8

Fabric - Mystery fabric from Walmart for 1.50$ a yard.

Notions -3 3/4 yds. of 1" elastic and pkg. of 1/2" wide double bias tape.The bias tape was used to make the casing for the elastic.

Conclusion - This was the cutest off the shoulder maxi dress. I don't know if I will make it again or not.

For Christmas I got a Janome Magnolia 7330 sewing machine. This is the first time I sewn on it. I just love it!! I think we are going to have a good relationship! LOL!

Well I haven't been doing any sewing, but I have been buying fabric now I just have to figure out what I am going to make.LOL!

My dear sweet 6 year old daughter have been asking me can she have her hair down. OMG not right now your to young I said this in my head. LOL! Well here some hair styles I have tried.

This hair style is call the twist out. I found this style on youtube. I just put some Olive oil mousse on each twist and I took the twists out the next day. She love this style.

I love these styles because I didn't have to put any heat in her hair.

I lost my dear sweet sister to beast cancer two weeks ago. I had been taking care of her for a couple months as her health weaken. She lived five years with beast cancer.She will be missed very much. Rest in peace my sweet sister.

I am still here I haven't been posting, but I have been reading many blogs. My sewing mojo have left me but I need it back to make some things for my weekend trip next month! So please can someone tell it to come back!

Well I have been doing a little crocheting.

Pattern: Painted Ruffle Scarf
Yarn: Lion Brand Yarn Homespun
Color: 1ST scarf Barrington/ 2ND scarf Barley
Conclusion: Somewhat easy. I had a little trouble working with the homespun yarn.But I thought this was a cute and different scarf and I did add some beads to it. One of them will be a Christmas gift for my girlfriend.I think it will be the barrington scarf.

I am asking for your prayers for my sister who is starting a new chemo because the one she was on was not working. She is in very good spirits and enjoying life.

I did some sewing for my daughter last weekend.

Pattern: McCall's 5697 I made view B.
Children and girls jacket: loose fitting,unlined jacket has self-lined yoke, collar and front button closure; jacket A has short sleeves with stitched hem; B C D have patch pockets; jacket B has below elbow sleeves with ruffle; jacket C has long sleeves and purchased flower; jacket D has long sleeves with buttoned tab.

Conclusion: This was a easy sew.I had seen a lot of these jacket in the store for little girls. So I decided to make one for my dd. The fabric I got a yard sale for 3 yards for a 1.00$. The fabric is denim. Click picture for closer look.

I also made a blue jean purse for my niece! She loves it!! That is good she is 14 and hard to make something they like!

Hope everyone had a great 4th of July!We stayed home and barbecued and watch the neighbors fireworks.

My hubby started a fire ,because it was cold that night!

We were happy he started that fire!!

Then Justin wanted to start his own fire!!

Now to sewing!!

I was at JoAnn's fabric and was passing the see and sew rack and this pattern caught my eye. Well I had already broken my pattern diet for the summer so what's one more pattern. It was only 2.99 and I used my 40% coupon to get it!LOL!

Pattern: See & Sew B4957
Misses' dress and sash: Semi-fitted , sleeveless, flared dress has lined bodice, neckline variations and back zipper closure. Sash has stitched hem.

Notions: 22 inch zipper, Hook and Eyes.

Fabric: cotton I bought from a yard sale. 4 yards for a 1.00$.

Conclusion: Very easy pattern. It only has 5 pattern pieces to make this dress!! And if you make the sash it is 6. From start to finish I think it could take you about 3 to 4 hours or less to make. It took me 4 hours. I used to the same fabric to line the bodice. Super simple dress. I highly recommend this pattern!

Ramblings and Sewing

My son is home from college!! He got a summer job as a lifeguard at one of the high schools. So I took the kids there to swim and got this cute picture of him and his little sis sitting together.That year away in college have taught him the value of money. He don't spend like he use to!LOL

Now to sewing!

It was windy when my son took this picture!

Pattern: Simplicity 3503 view E. Misses Knit dress in two lenghts with bodice variations.

Sizes: 6-14 I made a size 8.

Fabric: Some knit fabric from Walmart.It was a 1.50$ a yard.

Conclusion: After seeing Ms. Erica B. made her dress like this I had to have it. So when Joann's had their 1.99 Simplicity sale I got it. I just love this dress.I had no problems making it. Like Ms. Erica I used the same fabric for the lining.It also calls for fusible interfacing in the neck band. The only problem I have with this dress is I have no shoes that match it. DARN now I have to go shoe shopping!LOL

This is Suki and Shay!! It is just like taking care of a baby!!LOL

These are my hubby's dogs.

These are our chickens. This is our second year having chickens. We had fresh chicken for dinner no hormones or chemicals. Loved that!!
Now these are our pigs. That's my hubby feeding them. I think pigs are the dumpiest animal!! They stand in their food while they are eating it!LOL! Last year for family get together I always brought the ham.LOL ! I had pork's chops sausage you name it we had it in our freezer!LOL Well that is it here at McGold's Farm!!!!!!

Now to sewing!!

Pattern: Butterick 5178
Misses Dress: Empire dress with cut in armholes, elastic castings in bodice front and back, armhole and neck bindings,back button and loop closing with stitched hem. A above mid-knee length B: evening length.

Size: 6-12 I made a size 8.

Notions: one 3/8 button and 1/4" elastic 2 5/8 yards.

Fabric: some t-shirt like material I bought from Walmart for a 1.50$ a yard/

Conclusion: The direction was right on the money!! Everything went great no troubles! I want to make this dress again in a solid color so that I see more of the details of this dress. You can't see a lot of the dress detail design with this print material, but I still love this dress!! If you want to make this dress is very easy to make!

Size: 4-12 I made a size 8.

Conclusion: very very easy top! I will be making another one of these for the summer.

Shorts Simplicity 3796

Misses skirt in three lengths and pants in two lengths or shorts.

Fabric: Mystery fabric from Walmart at a 1.50$ a yard.

size: 8-16 I made a size 10.

Conclusion: very easy shorts. I had trouble with the pocket, because it so hard for me keep things straight as you can see in the picture. I am working on it!LOL

Little talking and little sewing

Wow it has been a while since I last posted!

Well I have been to my son's first college spring game last month. He is the number 38 the same number he had in high school. They didn't win. :(

Meet my new family members.This is two girl Yorkie their names are Suki and Shay!They are the cutest love them!

Now to sewing!

So many sewers out there have been sewing some beautiful things for the summer!Then I saw Ms. Erica B. beautiful maxi dress and said I have to break my pattern diet and get that pattern!I feel if I wait until the pattern goes on sale then I am not breaking my pattern diet because it will only be a couple bucks RIGHT!LOL Well until then I had to use the patterns I do have.

Simplicity 3797

Pattern: Simplicity 3797

Material: Walmart 1.50$ a yard.Mystery fabric that is machine washable.

Notions: 12inch zipper, one 2" buckle

Conclusion: This was easy dress to sew no troubles.It has a zipper on the side of the dress. I didn't put the belt hooks on the dress. When I had them on there I didn't like the way it sat on my behind didn't look right to me.

Mccall's 5893

Pattern: McCall's easy one hour pattern 5893

Material: Jersey knit from Walmart 1.50$ a yard.

Conclusion:Well it took me 2 hours to make this dress not long at all! No troubles and the only notion I needed was the elastic I had to use in the waist!! Very easy to make!!

Mother's Day week

My dd school had a Mother's day program in their classroom.They all made us potted plants and oven mitts for our gift. Love it!

Here's a picture of me and the kids at church on Mothers day. Hubby was doing his usher duties when we took this picture. I had a wonderful Mother's day.

The following week was able to do some sewing.

Top: Simplicity 4277
Fabric: cotton blend From Walmart 1.50$ a yard
Size: 10
Conclusion:When I purchased this pattern I didn't pay close attention to how this top was made. It's kind of a close fitting top. I found this out after I made it.If I had caught this I would have went a size larger at the bottom half of this top. I was able to wear it with the knit pants I made but I cannot wear it with my jeans unless I tuck it inside my pants.O well I will know next time.
Pants: Butterick 5146
Fabric: Mystery knit from Walmart 1.50 a yard.
Conclusion: easy easy pair of elastic waist pants. Very very comfortable.I will be making these again.

My pattern and fabric stash! There's more behind that!LOL

Like most sewers I have a fabric stash and a pattern stash.After reading Ms.Adrienne blog asking questions about sewing. I started to think maybe my fabric stash is not to much or my pattern stash.Last summer I put myself on a pattern diet and this summer I am going to do it again.But I don't think I will ever ever ever go on a fabric diet that would be too much for me!LOL! When I buy fabric or patterns I always get it when it is on sale, because I am very cheap person!LOL!A lot of people say you could never have too much when it comes to your craft!LOL!

Walmart fabric finds!!All of it was a 1.50$ a yard!The fabric to the left is all knits isn't just beautiful!LOL!The fabric to the right it mystery fabric.All that from Walmart! I did tell you I was cheap!!LOL!

Pattern: Simplicity 3536I had enough fabric to squeeze out a top for me.This was a easy sew.It has elastic in the should of the top.I liked that about this top.

What a weekend! Took the kids to a indoors water park. They were off for a week for spring break.

My two boys and my niece! It was hard getting them stop to take pictures because they were having so much fun!

I haven't blog in a month and I was award a sisterhood award!Yeah I am suppose to give it to 10 other people and everyone I know already have one.So I will not be giving any away. I would like to thank Ms. Jackie for the award!!

Now to sewing!

Patterns: Jacket and top Butterick 5941 Misses Jacket,top,skirt and pants.

Fabric: mystery fabric for a 1$ a yard at Walmart for the skirt and jacket.

Size:8

Conclusion: Very easy pattern no trouble at all.This pattern is out of print.I didn't add any button to the jacket just left it without. The top was fast and easy. I bought that fabric for the top from Jo-Ann's clearance rack a 1$ a yard.

Pattern: out of print also.Misses skirt with variations.

Simplicity 4787
I love this skirt because of the pleats on the back.This was also an easy sew.It didn't call for a lining, but I added one because the fabric is light weight and you can kind of see through it.

I can't believe it has been 6 months since I last posted!!Well here's what happen uh uh well first of all my computer was down for two of those months, yeah that's it my computer was down!!HaHa Yes my computer was getting fixed for about two months.I was going crazy ,after the first month then it got a little easier the second month. I had already went through my withdraw stage!!LOL Well I did go through some down time worrying about my sister who is dealing with breast cancer.With all that she is going through she is a very strong lady and I know she is going to be alright.Tell me why when you are down you start to notice all the commercials that are selling those drugs for depression?I start noticing all those commercials and had to laugh at myself and say girl get up before they might have to put you on that stuff!!HAHA Well I am doing much better and ready to join blog land again.Thank you to those who e-mail me to see how I was doing!
Well in the month Septemberer I did do some sewing.

Pattern: Simplicity 7205

This pattern is out of print and it is not even online anymore it so old.

Misses/Miss petite dresses in two lengths.

Fabric: I think it was a satin crepe.

Color: gold

Conclusion: On this dress I used the bottom of another view instead the bottom it had on the pattern. Not paying close attention to what I was doing. When I changed bottoms on the dress it call for the zipper to be on the side of the dress and this is was I did and I cut it out.Started on making the dress forgot I had to put boning on the side of the dress. I should had cut out the dress out for the zipper to be on the back. I had so much trouble getting that boning in with the zipper being on the side!!:( On the bottom of the dress I did pin tucks I think I did them a 1" or more apart. With some of the trouble I had with this dress I would make it again.I also made a jacket to go with this dress.

Pattern: Simplicity 4045 Misses/miss skirt in two lengths,bias dress or top and unlined coat or jacket.I made coat E.
Fabric: Brocade
Conclusion: This was a very easy coat to make.I did shorted it show the pin tucks I did in the dress.

Pattern: Simplicity 3640 Misses pants in two lengths,hooded sweatshirt and knit top.I made view A and F.

Fabric: I think it was a sport stretch velor it was 4.50$ a yard at JoAnn Fabric.For the hood lining I used flannel with the satin front that I had left from some PJ's I made my sister last year.

Color: lavender

Notions:pkg of 1/4 wide elastic,20" separating zipper.

Conclusion: I love making this it was very easy.I also used my GEmagic to add some silver I guess you call stones to my sweatsuit.I had a little trouble when I was adding the stones, because the fabric was stretch material it keep moving on me.So the stones are not perfectly straight.I really love this outfit and will be wearing it often.I will be making another one soon.

This is where I added the stones to the pocket.

I made a heart on the back pocket.

I hadn't been doing much crocheting lately.Yes that is sad because I am trying to finish up an afghan for my son in college by Christmas.Look how far I have gotten.

That is very sad!!:(

I had a great weekend!My dd and I finally was able to wear our matching dresses to church this Sunday!Looking at the picture you can tell she was not happy about taking a picture that day!

Well I did do a little sewing about a month.

Pattern: Simplicity 2961 project runway
Fabric: silk type fabric
size: 8
conclusion: I don't think my shirt came out like it looks on the pattern.The yoke that goes around the collar bone, mine looks a lot smaller than the picture.I did have some troubles getting the yoke and sleeve on.I took it a part about 3 times.Then I just had to go with what I had , because that silk was getting to many little holes in it with me ripping it a part so much.I am going to try making this top again in a cotton fabric to see if I could get it right.

Last week my dd and two of my nieces spent a week down south with their Granddad.While she was gone I did some room changes since I lost a child to college!!Ha Ha!!Well I moved the two boys to his room and this left my dd with a room to herself.My boys was so happy to not be sharing a room with their little sister.Believe me she was glad to have her own room.Now it would be nice if she would sleep in it.She is still sleeping in the room with her brothers.The only thing she do in that room is play and tell her brother's to get out.I have hope that one day she will sleep by herself!

She is loving her room!It took me the whole week to decorate and paint that room,and I have the aching legs to prove it!

I have been doing a little sewing,I will post that later.I also have been working on my son's afghan, well somewhat working on it.I want to have it done by Christmas I guess I better get to working on it.

Wow I haven't post in a very long time.
Well I haven't felt much like sewing lately or posting.After my son's open house my sister told me that she had bone cancer.This really hurt me.She had just beat breast cancer.She had did the chemo and everything.Now she have to go through chemo again.I have prayed and cried and prayed and cried.Now I am leaving it in God's hands because I know everything is going to be alright!

I have been looking at some patterns in my stash to try and make something for my niece from Atlanta before she leaves.I think I want to make her a blue jean purse and some PJ's.

He is Gone!

Well my son is gone to college now!I guess you can tell I am missing him.I will be picking him up to come home for the fourth of July weekend.My other kids are going out of town for the fourth weekend.Me and my hubby thought we were going to have the house to ourselves for that weekend buuutttttt my teenager will be coming home!!

Well I had been so busy getting things together for his open house.After the open house we had to take him to college that following week.This week I was able to squeeze some sewing and crocheting in.

Sewing:

Pattern: See& Sew B5201

Fabric: Cotton from Walmart 1.00$ a yard table.Color rust with white dots.

Notions: 20-22 inch invisible zipper.

Conclusion: When I saw this pattern I thought this was a cute and different shoulder strap dress.And you all know how I love an easy sew!I love how the gathers on this dress turn out.Doing the gathers was so easy.All you have to do is gather up the parts of the bodice and sew it onto the lining.Hope can understand what I am talking about.

Crocheting:

I started about two weeks ago on making my son a Afghan.I want to get it done for him for Christmas.

I hope everyone had a great Holiday.I had a wonderful time with family and friends.We did a lot of eating and drinking and laughing.Well I am back to getting things ready for my Son's open house in a couple weeks.I also have finished the top I was making to wear at his open house.

Notions: 18" zipper,hook and eye
Conclusion: I had a lot of trouble getting the yoke over the bodice front shoulder to look even.I think I took it off about 4 or 5 times before I got it on right.Then I had a little trouble putting in a invisible zipper in this top.I took that off about 10 times trying to get it right.I read a lot of peoples review of this top on PR and no one had as many problems as I had.I finally got things going smoothly.After all them troubles I will be wearing this top a lot this summer!!Ha Ha

After seeing Ms. Erica B hook up the McCall's pattern 5586.I love how she didn't use rhinestones on her top she used some jewelry beads.I had to have it!But I couldn't get it because I am on a pattern diet for the summer.So I had to see what I had in my pattern stash that kind of looked like it.

I hope everyone had a great Mother's Day!For Mother's day my family took me to dinner and after dinner they gave me some money and drop me off at JoAnn"s Fabric!!Now that's a great gift.

Now on to sewing.I am trying hard not to buy anymore patterns for the entire summer.What I am doing is if I see a pattern I like ,I will go see if I have something like it in my stash.I just have to many patterns and a lot of them I have never even used.So I pulled this pattern out of my stash that I bought last summer and decided to make it this summer.This dress was a quick sew with great results.

Wow it has been a long time since I last blog!!Thanks to all of you who care and asked how I was doing!
Well I have been busy getting things together for my son's open house for next month.On top of that I have a had the flu for two weeks.I am just about over it now.Wow the closer I get to my son's open house the emotion start to come.I can't believe my eldest child is leaving to start his second half of his life.I am so not ready.He told me not to cry when to we drop him off at college.Guys I don't think I can do that!!All my friends say Girl get over it!!But all can do is think about all the time when he was a little boy.Well I guess as time goes on I will be okay!!HA HA

On to sewing!Here is some sewing I started before I got sick.

Pattern: Simplicity 2938
Misses/Women's dress or top,pants in two length,jacket and the tie belt.

Fabric: cotton

Notions: 12" zipper 1/2 wide single fold bias tape.

Conclusion: Very easy and quick make.Great summer top.I will be making a couple more of these tops.

Here's a closer look at the pleats.

Pattern:Mccall's 5591 I made view B.
Misses skirts and sash:Mid-length,pleated skirt have faced yoke and back zipper closure: Skirt A has slash front pocket with band and contrasting lower band; skirt B and C have side seam pockets;skirt B has carriers and sash;skirt C has ribbon trim at lower edge.

Fabric: lightweight cotton

Notions: 7" zipper,hooks and eye and interfacing.

Conclusion: I love the pleats in this skirt and also the pockets.Easy to follow directions.I hand hem this skirt.

Crocheting:

Yarn: Peaches and Creme 100% cotton.
Hook: B
Pattern: No pattern I made it up as I was making it.
After my dd saw the tank top Ms.Lesalicious made her dd,my dd wanted one also.

Wow this have been a busy couple of weeks.

Went on a field with my dd class to a children museum.This was really nice the kids got to play with everything in the museum.

My son had a news conference to announce what college he would be attending.

My kids had a week off for spring break.Took them to Frankenmuth Michigan for the day.We went on a carriage ride.They really enjoyed that.

Through all that I still found time for crocheting and sewing.

I hope everyone had great Easter,I did.The kids got all dress up and we went to church.My kids wasn't in this years Easter program,because I have been so busy at home didn't have time to take them to practice.

You probable saying busy doing what.Well my dh decided he wanted to gut out our bathroom in our bedroom and redo it!!ME HAPPY ABOUT THAT!!
That means all new things for my bathroom.And I tell you my bathroom was pretty sad looking.So I have dust and dirt flying around my house because of all the work he is doing.

Well I am not able to sew anything until the bathroom is done.So I have been practicing on my knitting.Yes I have my first knitting project done.

Pattern: First Knits
Yarn: caron simply soft(yarn pattern calls for rowan wool cotton)
Needles: US 6/tapestry needle
Conclusion: This is a great hat to make if you are a first time knitter.I learn how to thumb cast-on,decrease and bind off.The hat came out a little bigger than it looked.I think that is because I didn't use the yarn the pattern called for and the yarn I used was to soft.I did have some trouble sometime trying to keep my stitches from sliding off my needle.So I had to take it slow so that would happen.I still love my hat,but I will be giving it to my teenager to wear,because it is a little to big for me.I really enjoyed knitting ,the next thing I want to learn is cables now I think that is going to be a lot harder.

I had no problems making this outfit, it came out looking just like the pattern.This is something I would make again.

I have a question.Have you ever went to a store and the people in the store didn't want to help you?I went to Walmart to take my son to get some school supplies.Whenever I go to Walmart I always go see if they have any nice fabric on their clearance rack.So while I was looking, the sales lady was on the other side of the fabric rack.I found the fabric I used to make this outfit on the rack and was so happy I knew what I was going to make with it.So I go to the cutting table and wait for the sales lady, she acted like she didn't see me there.So I went to get her,I was a little upset,but I didn't show it.My son whispered in my ear Mama she act like she don't want to help you.I said maybe she had a bad day.Now the fabric was a 1.00 a yard.I told her I want 5 yards of the navy fabric and two yards of the other fabric.She started flinging my fabric off the board and she folded it any kind of way.I didn't say thing I just took my fabric and receipt and went to pay for my things.Long story somewhat short I got home and she made a mistake and charge me 2.00 for all that fabric!!:) :) :) :)That was a great day!!!!

Well I finally sent off all my Pay-It-Forward gifts.I am hoping they will like their gifts.I will show pictures of those gifts once they receive them.I have been trying not to do any sewing until I see my doctor to get X-rays of my leg.So I have been doing some short crocheting projects for my dd.

Yarn: pink and cream is red heart.The brown is Caron wintuk.

After seeing Crimson Purl knitted neck warmer I had to have one.I am not a knitter so I went on line to find a crocheted neck warmer pattern and made me one.This took me only an hour and half to make love it.This came in handy this week because it has been very very cold here!!

Painful Sewing

To all my sewing blogger out there what type of chair are you sewing in?Well I have been sewing in that chair picture above for 2 years.I remember when I saw that chair and table set at walmart and had to purchase it.Now I am having leg problems and back troubles.My right leg is numb from the knee down.It has been like that the whole month of December.Now pain is starting to come in my leg.My doctor gave some pills to get the inflammation down. When it goes down I will have to get some X-rays to see what is going on.I have been sewing off and on ,but I used my adjustable computer chair to sew in.My doctor told me not to do any sewing for a while, but I am hard headed.To my blogging friends make sure you have the right chair to sew in so you won't have pain later!!!

These are some of the things I shouldn't of have been sewing!SHH don't tell.And yes I was in pain after making each and everything!See I told you I was hard headed!

I love this top.I was surprised that I didn't have any trouble making this top.This pattern is out of print.I had this pattern I think about 4 years.

This was another one of those super simple to make patterns.This is great Apron to make to get rid of some of those small scrap material that you have in your stash.

Wow Christmas over all ready!!I had a wonderful Christmas with my family and friends!!I hope you all had a great Christmas also!!I had family from out of town staying with us and we had a nice time.

I was up late Christmas eve making jewelry for dd,sister,and my good friend.I didn't get pictures with them in the jewelry.

Well my sewing has slowed down some.My teenager and my son Justin have started basketball.My teenager have a game twice a week and Justin have practice once a week.Also my teenager swims. He has swim meets every other Saturday.So I haven't been able to get a lot done.I have only 4 days left ,but I think I can make it.I THINK!!!Oh well we will see.

Finished another crocheting project for my dd.I made her a bear for Christmas.My boys say they think she will like it.I hope so.I love making this it was fun.I think I put a little to much stuffing in the bear.I made it a skirt,scarf and some socks.

People I need help I can't stop buying fabric and yarn!!!!!The thing that's making buy all this stuff is they keep having great sales.The fabric I bought was 60% percent off had to get it!You ask what I am going to make with it I DON'T KNOW!But don't you think it so pretty.Then there is a new yarn store that open!!OMG!!Went to check it out.Well I came out with this yarn.You ask again what am I going to make with this yarn!I DON'T KNOW!But it was on sale for 3.50 each 100% wool.Please I need some help!!

I started crocheting a bear for my dd this week.I first saw this bear on Anna's Yarn Mansion and I thought this would be so cute for my dd who loves to sleep with all her stuff animals.This bear is called Amigurumi Dude.I will finish this up before Christmas.

Well I did make another Mother/Daughter pjs bottoms for my Sister-in-law.Pjs bottoms are the fastest gift you can make for someone.I am going to buy them a white t-shirt for them to wear with them.

Christmas gifts

Hi everyone hope things have been going good for you!Well I have been making and trying to figure out what to make or buy some people.For my mother I want to make her the Simplicity 5361 for Christmas.I don't know what type of Fabric I want to used to make it.I thought this was a cute PJ set.

I made these PJ bottoms for my sister and her dd.I am going to make them a t-shirt like top to wear with them.Also I am going to try and crochet them some matching slippers.I have already started on my sister slippers.

Well I had to put Ms. Short down so I could get started on Christmas gifts.All I have left to finish on her is the front part and add a button on it.Man! Christmas is coming so fast I think some gifts are going to be a little late.I guess I didn't plan soon enough to make these gifts.That is why I just love giving pj bottoms for Christmas they are so easy to make.Everyone I make them for loves them especially when I make them in their favorite cartoon or whatever character they like.I think everyone probably end up with PJ's bottom for Christmas!!HA HA Anywho I am ready to get back to sewing and crocheting for myself!ha ha

Great Thanksgiving!!

First of all I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family and friends!!I had a great Thanksgiving!I cooked and baked and did all that good stuff!Family and friends all came our house for dinner.Great time!!

BLACK FRIDAY!
My sister and I went out shopping at 4:00 in the morning.I wanted to go to JoAnn's and she wanted to go to Walmart.Well I gave in and went to Walmart.We went to the super Walmart got a close parking space walk right on in.Then we get to the electronic department that's when all heck broke!!They had all sales items wrapped up in black wrap with the salesman standing by the items until 5:00am when the sales start.Guys when the that clock hit 5:00am this is when the people went CRAZY!!I wished I wished I had my camera so I could have video tape that!!!.After my sister got what she wanted, I went to JoAnn's and she went to Jcpenny's.The main thing I wanted from JoAnn's was the dress form that they had on sale for 89.99!!They were all gone I was heart broken!!!!So I went to pick out some flannel material they had on sale for .99 cent a yard.Got ready to get in line had to get a number.The number they were on was 5,I had number 62!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I waited 2 hours to get my fabric cut out.I made a lot of friends while I was waiting.Well now I have enough fabric to make PJ's bottoms for family and friends.

This is what the two hour wait was for!!I only paid 16.00$ for 16 yards of fabric pretty good I think!!

This was a easy sew.I just love easy patterns.I bought this pattern when JoAnn fabrics had their Simplicity patterns on sale for 1.99.When they have a pattern sale I have buy at least one pattern to feel good!
Material:This fabric had been in my stash a while couldn't remember what kind it was.I do remember that it was on clearance for 1.50 an yard and that it was machine washable.
Notions: 7" zipper,hook and eye, one package of twill tape.
Size:8
Color: gray/black and a hint of blue.

I want to use this fabric to make a top to go with the gauchos I made.The thing is it is only two yards of fabric so it will have to be a sleeveless top or a short sleeve top.I am going to try and use a pattern I already have.TRYING VERY HARD NOT TO BUY ANY MORE PATTERNS!!WELL FOR THIS YEAR ONLY!!!

My very first crocheted slipper!!My dd loved them so I will be making more.I added the pom pom to them.

First of all I shouldn't be on my computer!!My computer has a virus!!!My dh got on the computer and the next day everything was a mess!My dh opens up everything that comes up on the computer when he is on the Internet!!Well when he got off the computer it was like the computer went crazy!My virus protection didn't even protect my computer from what ever is wrong with it.So I will have to take my computer to the Geek Squad to get the virus or what ever is wrong with it fixed.

Went to get my camera to get a picture of my progress with Ms. Shorty.Looked all over the house for my camera!!Couldn't find it!Called my dh to see if he knew where it was!He gave my camera to his brother to use.He has had my camera for a week!!!!

I think what I am saying is I am lost without my computer and camera.I sneak on the computer every once in a while to make some comments because I am going stir crazy without it!!!!

Well I did get some sewing done this week!I made Simplicity 3690 view E and C.This is one of there easy chic patterns.I love love easy patterns.Top was very easy to make only thing is the tucks in the shirt were very small so it took ME a lot of time to get them in right.With the vest I no troubles until I got to the lining.My lining came out a little short when I was pinning it to the vest.I check to see if all my darts were put together right.Everything seemed to be together right.I didn't have enough fabric to cut out another lining.I hate to tell you guys what I did in fear that I might be put out of the sewing blogging world !!!HA HA Well I took what fabric I had and sewed it to where I needed more lining and cut off what I didn't need and sewed the lining in.You can see what I am talking about in the picture below.PLEASE DON'T KICK ME OUT OF THE BLOGGING SEWING WORLD!!

This was a great pattern even with problems I had with the vest.

My hubby and I finally finally went to see Tyler Perry new movie.Why did I get married. Yes I put on my newly made top and vest and off we went.This was a good movie.Thumbs up for Mr. Perry!After the movies went out for drinks.I tried a new drink call What she's having.If you like fruity drinks than this is the drink for you.

Finally I am getting my sewing mojo back!!I have been working on this jacket off and on for two weeks.

My first time putting a lining in.

McCall"s 5480
Fabric: velveteen (color navy blue)
notions: two 1 1/2" buttons,interfacing
changes: I added an inch to the sleeves and the length.I wished I had added more on the sleeves.But it is done now, maybe next time.

I had no problems with making this jacket.This was a great pattern!I will be making this jacket again maybe in denim.

My teenager and I spent some mother and son time together today!!We went to an Eastern Michigan University football game.Boy it was cold out today for a football game.Some of them college student had on T-shirts and thats all no coat at all!!And those true football fans painted their chest green for the school colors!And they did not put a coat on or a shirt through the whole game!!All I could do was hope they didn't get sick later!!I am enjoying these times me spend together because you can't get these times back!!

Yes you are seeing right I am trying to learn to knit!!I bought this kit at JoAnn Fabric.The kit included sizes six and eight needles,knit tally,cable stitch needle,stitch holder, cabone rings,point protectors,knit gauge and how to knit book all for the fabulous price of 4.99$So one day I will be able to make one of those fabulous knitting patterns!!!!!!!!!It didn't take me long to learn how to do the few stitches I did in the picture.It was hard learning how to hold two needles when you are use to holding one!That is the main thing I need to learn is how to hold those needles in my hand the right way.So that means more practice!!

Well I am starting to get back in a sewing mood.I have started back looking in my fabric stash again to get some ideas on what to make.People out in blog land have been making some beautiful things.This is making me want to pull the sewing machine out again.Maybe this weekend.Anywho I did start a new crochet project.My dd want me to call it Ms Shorty!Why I don't know so Ms Shorty it is!!The color I am using is bone.The yarn I am using is Caron simply soft.

Finally Ms Sunset is done.My dd wouldn't model it for me today.Maybe another day.So I had to get another model!Ha Ha

Yarn:(Moda Dea) I didn't use that yarn I used Bernat satin yarn.
Crochet hook:G/6
Changes:Didn't make the bow.I think I might put buttons on it.

This was my first cardi.The only troubles I had was the sleeves.I am a beginner crocheter and it was hard for me to figure out what the pattern was asking me to do to the sleeves.I did what I thought was right.I really enjoyed making this.I will make this again with the yarn the pattern calls for.

Well I think one reason my dd didn't want to model for me is because she had just got back from the pumpkin patch with her school.These kids were serious about picking out the best pumpkin.

Saturday my son and I spent some mother and son time together.We went to Central Michigan College game.That was a two hour drive.Yes I did a little crocheting going.Coming back I had to drive while he slept.I really enjoyed that time together.After the game we had to head to his school to help out with a lock-in that the football players were giving.We had 7Th -12Th graders from 7:00am until 7:00pm.I was really really sleepy after that one!

Oh yes I must not forget!ANOTHER WIN FOR MY SON'S FOOTBALL TEAM LAST FRIDAY!!OH YES ONE MORE GAME AND WE MIGHT BE IN THE PLAYOFFS!!!!

My baby girl turned four years old last week!!I decided I would make her a cake.The thing is my cake never look good but they taste good!!I told myself I can do it this time.Well if you look at the pictures below I didn't do it!!My family is so sweet they said it look good!!While trying to hold their laugh in!!Well I guess what counts is how it taste.They ate it all up!!

Well my baby is becoming a man!!This past weekend I have been getting him ready for his Homecoming this past Saturday.Bought him a suit and the sleeves were to short.I didn't take him with me,bad mistake.So we had to find him a suit a day before the homecoming!That was a lot of running around.Good thing he is not a picky person.He didn't care how the suit looked just as long as it was black.Yes I cried while taking pictures of him for homecoming!!Man this is his last year of high school!Time goes by fast!Notice I still call him a baby!!He hates it!!

Through all this I was able to get some work done on Ms.Sunset!Now I am working on the sleeves.

Wow what a great weekend!!My hubby and I and friends went to a reunion in Illinois.We shopped , ate and had a little to drink and enjoyed ourselves.We all had a nice break from our kids!!

Before I left for my weekend away I had to do a little sewing for my son.Last week my son Miles teacher wanted them purchase book covers for their books.She told them if they didn't have them by Friday they would get lunch detention!I went to three different stores looking for book covers no luck!So I went to walmart got some fabric and decide I will try and make him one.Went on-line to google put in how to make book covers.And came up with this book cover.I love it!I will have to make more.

Good news my son Lawrence team won their football game Friday night.The score was 42 to7 YES YES!!I wished I could have been there to cheer them on!!

Scary Monday!!

Monday night was a scary night.My dd was so excited that her Grandmother was coming by to visit.My dd and mother were talking in the kitchen.Well talking my dd was reaching for a glass to drink her juice.The glass dropped on her foot she started crying!I looked down at her foot there was blood everywhere!So we cleaned her foot up to see how bad was the cut, it was pretty bad.So we decided to take her to the after hours clinic.Went to the clinic it was closed.Went to another one it was closed.WHY IS A AFTER HOURS CLINIC CLOSED AT 8:00pm!!Then my dd said it doesn't hurt anymore.So went the drug store bought some gauze's and ointment .We went home and I acted like I was her nurse and wrapped her up.Today she is back in school jumping around.

Started another crocheting project while watching dancing with the stars last night.I am making a cardigan for my dd.I am using some yarn I had in my stash that I bought on clearance for .97 cents each at JoAnn Fabric.It is Bernat satin yarn.The color I am using is Sunset and Aran.This is my first sweater so I thought I better start small first!I like when people give names for the projects.So I guess I will name mine Ms Sunset!!

Friday was a sad day!!My son football team lost their game Friday!!So my son was down that day ,but he recover Saturday to go bowling with all his friends!!Well we will win the next game!!!

Well I was able to do some crocheting.
I made some fingerless gloves.

These fingerless gloves were fun to make!!The pattern call for Debbie Bliss Alpaca silk yarn.I used what yarn I had to see if I could make these gloves.I will make these again with the yarn it calls for.I got the pattern for these gloves out of the book Cool Girls Guide to Crocheting.I bought this book from JoAnn's fabric for five dollars.Please pay no more for this book it is not very good!!

I have been tagged again!!This time by Ms. lesalicious!!She is another crocheter who loves her craft!!I have to tell eight things about myself.Okay here I go!!

1. I love inviting family and friends over for dinner.After dinner starting a fire and have a good time talking and laughing.

2. I still don't know how to do a lot of things on my blog!!Like change my heading on my blog,add things on the side like for example crochet blog.I also would love to know how to add on side how far you have gotten on a knitting or crocheting project.I would love learning how to do that.I hope all that made sense.

3. Oh yes I love watching QVC when they show jewelry and purses!!I receive this in the mail this week love it!!I don't order things every week.I just watch it every week!!

4.I have four children ages 17 ,12, 10, 3.I don't know what me and my dh was thinking having them spread out like that!!I guess I will always have someone to file on my income tax!!!!HA HA

5. I love looking at blogs that have a lot of photos in them.I spend to much time blogging that sometimes sewing and crocheting don't get done!!And house work:(!!

6. I love to sew!But I haven't been in a sewing mood lately.I have been on the computer all the time looking for crocheting patterns.Now I am trying to learn more about yarn.

7. I love going to my son's high school football games!I help out in serving the pre-game dinner to the players every Friday.

8. I hope to one day crochet this shrug!!I don't know what color yet. I think just about everyone in blog land have been tagged so I will not tag anyone this time.Have a great day!!

YES YES!!last night was another win for my son's football team!!They have not lost a game yet!!Boy was it cold out yesterday night at his game!But that is a part of being a football parent!In the picture my son is the one standing over, about to tackle the other team.Our team is in the color blue and white.

Well I hadn't been in a sewing mood for a while lately.I have been looking at a lot of blogs that knits.They have been making some beautiful things.I would love to learn how to knit!I am a beginner crocheter.I think I should learn more about that before I move on to knitting.

This has been a busy month.I have been doing volunteer work for my teenagers football team.They won their game last Thursday night Yeah!!Also the kids are back in school and so is my dd.She is in pre-k now and she loves it.When I left her in the classroom she didn't even look for me.She went straight to playing with the other kids.When I picked her up from school,she said she wants to go back the next day!!So I guess this means she liked it.So I have been doing the clean up the whole house thing while the kids are all in school.After the house is all clean then I can get to some real work SEWING AND CROCHETING!!!HA HA!!!

I haven't been in much of a sewing mood in about a month.I have been doing a lot of crocheting.I have crocheted a couple of stocking caps for some little girls for their birthdays.But since my dd have started school I am now in the mood for sewing again.So here are a couple of patterns I have bought to make for her.

Well Friday we had a thunderstorm going on here.I was sitting at my computer posting.That takes me about 30 mins or more.My son came in the room and says.Mother you shouldn't be on the computer while its a thunderstorm.I said okay all have to do is push publish and I am done.Then a big loud boom sound came.All the lights and computer went out.To make a long story short we had no electricity that day until the next afternoon!!!So that after noon tried to get online to start all over posting.Then the Internet and cable tv went out because of the storm.That was down until that evening.So I am just now able to get on the computer to post!!!Well at least today is a nice sunny day!!

Also Thursday had to sign my dd up for pre-school.What ever happen to pre-school being a half a day.After filling out all the papers.The teacher said she will be going to school from 8:30am to 3:00 pm.I said what, its not a half a day!!!No its a full day.Why did I feel like taking those papers back and saying I changed my mind!!:(I am not ready for my baby to go to school for a full day!!!!My dh said I am not ready, so he said he will take her on her first day of school.He feels I will scare her if I start to crying!!!:(

Well last Thursday night was a winner for my son's football team.The score was 48 to 16.These kids played a good game.My son sack the quarterback twice.Want to see it got a picture of it!!!!He is number 38.Yes I am a proud parent!!I lost my voice after that game!!!!!

Finished crocheting my dh hat for the football games.All I have to add is the tassel.Haven't been doing much sewing lately.I have been trying to get our hats done for the football season.I will be getting back to sew to make some clothes for my dd for school.

Well things are starting to get back to normal around here.Company is all gone!Now it is time to get ready for high school football.My son is so excited about his senior year football season!!I love going to his games.My son Justin is in the fifth grade and he is now wanting to play football.So that means after my Lawrence graduate I will still have a football player at home.:)Well I finished crocheting Lawrence a hat to wear after his games.He loves it!!I am so glad about that.So I decided to make the whole family hats to wear to all his games also.I am making them all in his school colors except for my dd she wanted a pink hat!!Well I have some of them done in the photos below!!I have three done now I have three more to go!!

I have not been doing much sewing lately.I am hoping that I will be able to cut out pattern butterick 4996 view c today or tomorrow!!In this fabric.In the mail Saturday I received Simplicity 4428 from Mrs.Toya!!Thank you very much!!!!You need to check her blog out it is always informative and beautiful photos always!!!

Well my guests are gone.We had a great time together.EAT DRINK AND BE HAPPY is what we did!!I had nine kids staying here and no problems!!The night before they came my DH and DS put my new patio furniture out on the deck for me.When I got home and saw them putting it up YOU KNOW I WAS VERY HAPPY!!My family and friends we all enjoy sitting out on the deck!!

Well I have been busy doing vacation bible at my church this week.All the planning and getting things together it turned out really nice.The kids learned and enjoyed themselves!!!I had the ages 3-6 year old this year.I only had 6 kids, they were greatest kids.Now its time to plan for next year!!!

Well my niece was with us for a week.This girl is going to be a comedian one day.She is so funny.My dh family are known to be funny and do things to get a laugh out of you.Well they past this down to their niece who don't even live in the same state as they do,but she picked the trait up some how!!Well while she was here she wanted me to make her something.She is 13 years old this a hard age to figure out what they will like.They feel they are not a little girl anymore.So I made her the top in the photo below.Do you think it look like a top for a little girl?This girl wears the same size as her mother a size 5.When I was 13 I was not that big.These kids these days are much bigger than I was.Well I hope she likes it.
This pattern is New look 6464.So simple no notion needed.I just love super simple patterns.

I have also been looking for crocheted pattern hat for men.My son want a funny looking hat to wear during football season with his schools colors.I am going see if I can find something online to make him.I couldn't find anything in the stores!!

Well I had great weekend with my family!We took my teenager to a one day football camp on Sunday.

Friday I thought I was going to crochet and sit around and relax.No that didn't happen.

My son Justin:(coming in the house very excited) Mom daddy said lets go bike riding!!

Me:UmUm!! My bike needs to be fixed ,I haven't rode my bike in years!

Justin: Really!!(He left and went outside)

Me: Man got myself out of that one!

Justin:( coming back in the house running)Mom I fixed your bike!Are you going to go with us now.

Me:(In my head,I am saying I haven't rode a bike since I had him 10 years ago!)Yes Justin let me get my shoes on!!

Well I did have a good time.The kids laugh at me twice,because I almost hit a couple walking because I wasn't that good at riding my bike.I did get the hang of it as we rode.

250 count sheets!!

Boy O Boy my kids have keep me busy this week!!My dd and the little girl next door decided they didn't want to make dirt houses anymore, so they started putting dirt in each others hair.Mind you , my dd was under the watchful eye of my dh when this happen.So at 9:30pm Friday night I am washing dirt out of my dd hair.As you can see in the picture she was very sleepy after getting her hair washed.

Sewing projects!I had been working on these project off and on for two weeks.After reading Sheilaz Crochetz blog on sewing with sheets,I had to try it.The skirt in the picture below is made out of 250 count sheets.I bought a full size sheet set for 11.00$.I still didn't use all the fabric from the set.So I made my dd a skort skirt with some of the fabric and still have a lot left.Now when I see a white sale it can mean a totally different thing!!!The top I have on is butterick 4996 the fabric I used is a very lightweight cotton.I will be making this top again, I love it!The only thing you will have to wear a strapless bra with it.The skirt is simplicity 4236.

YES YES THE DECK IS DONE!!!Now all we have to do is stain it and put my patio furniture out!This call for a gathering with family and friends!!!Thanks to my dh and my mother's boyfriend and my dh brother its done!!!Well that's one job done and several more to go!!

I finished the McCall's 5310 outfit for my dd.The skirt was made with three tiers.I made the top tier with denim material.I love this outfit, but it had a lot of gathers in the skirt and top.I hate doing a lot of gathers.Then on pattern review I was told about a gathering foot you can buy for your sewing machine.I will be getting one of these soon.

I had a nice weekend.My hubby started working on our bathroom and trying to finish up our deck.He is working so hard.Hope to have pictures of that soon!For all his hard work I made a big dinner Sunday.I was able to get some squash and mustard greens out of our garden to cook for dinner.I made baked chicken,greens, onion and squash, mac and cheese and peach cobbler.The family enjoyed that meal.

My first Christmas gift done.I made this scarf and hat for my girlfriend dd who will be going to the North Park University Chicago for nursing.Her favorite color is red,so I used red sprinkles wool ease worsted weight.The scarf is 3" wide and 66" long.I hope she will like it.

This weekend I cut out a McCall's 5310 for my dd.She picked out the fabric for this outfit herself.She can't wait for me to finish it.

Well my kids are very upset they lost their dog yesterday.He was hit my a car and died.My kids was crying and my neighbors kids were crying also.They say they don't want another dog.I hope that will change in the future.

Well to better news my teenager has a JOB!!!!!He is now a lifeguard!!!Now I don't have to pay for his gas in his car for a while!!Now you know I am going to have to sneak and get some pictures of him at work!!

I had a wonderful holiday!We had friends and family over for barbecue.Everyone brought a dish to the barbecue.That was a lot of help there.We all ate and ate and ate!Then my dh started a fire and we all sat around it and watched the fireworks.Wonderful holiday.

Looking through my pattern stash came across this Newlook 6242 halter dress.I have never wore a halter dress so I decided I would try it.The fabric I made it out of is Linen blend.I did have a little trouble when I had to connect the halter to the middle section of the dress.I had to take it a loose three times and start it over.I think its because of my skill level in sewing.Other than that I didn't have any other problems with it.There's also a scarf on this pattern that will make to put around my shoulders.I finished my dd hat. Now all I have to do is make the bumble bee to put on top.She loves the hat!Well she loves anything I make her bad or good!!HA HA

After reading Stacey's and Adrienne 's post on don't you hate when....I had to copy off of them.

Don't you hate when you have JoAnn fabric 50% off coupon and everything in the store is on sale and don't get to use you 50% coupon!

Don't you hate when you are washing dishes and you cut your hand on a glass.

Don't you hate it when make your plate for dinner and you already asked your kids did they want any and they say no.But after seeing your plate they changed their minds now you have to fix their plate!!!

Adrienne I have one better than yours.Don't you hate when your dh tells you to order the food after I asked him three times what do you want.He say what ever you order is fine with me.He gets to the table and ask me did you order such and such.I just look at him with loving eyes and say no I didn't.

Don't you hate when it a sale somewhere and you know you can't spend any money that day.So you have to pass that good good sale up.

Don't you hate when you want to wear an outfit.When you find it you remembered you have to take to the dry cleaners.Now you can't wear it.

I had a busy open house weekend.I had three open houses to go to.I love going to an open house when the child will be going off to college.I have a couple of pictures of some of the grads.The first young lady is my cousin and the second young lady is my good friend's daughter.

She will be attending the University of Ontario.

She will be attending the University of Michigan.

Well I did get a little sewing in Friday.I made this butterick 4785 fast and easy halter dress for my 9 year old niece for her birthday.When she open it up she loved it.I used a cotton fabric with blue leopard prints on it. Blue is her favorite color.

This is a vogue pattern I have had for 3 or 4 years now.I guess it such an old pattern that it is out of print now.Well anyway I have been afraid to make it, because I didn't want to mess it up.Since I have been blogging ,I found out about muslin.A lot of you sewer make your outfits with muslin first to see what you have to alter or whatever else you have to do.Well I will be getting me some muslin and cutting out this pattern.Finally!!Thank you to all you sewers who helped me!!The pattern number is Vogue 2749.

Yesterday was a very hot 91 degrees.HOT HOT!!I had to drive 2 hours, well my teenager did the driving.We went to a one day football camp for him.We had to be there at 8:00am.So we had to leave at 5:30 am with my dd with us.I have to say my ds did a very good job in showing his skills.The coach said he was in the running to get a scholarship.So I have my fingers cross.As you can see in the picture I had plenty of toys to keep my dd busy while we were there.

This is my ds after we got home from camp!!

I started another crocheting project while waiting for my ds to get out of football camp.I hope I can finish it this week or next week.I thought this bumblebee hat was so cute.

Well since the kids have been out of school it had been hard getting on the computer.There's always someone on it.I was getting use to getting up in the morning when the kids was off to school and hubby was sleep.See it takes me an half an hour or more for me to post.Yes I am still learning this blogging thing.

Well anyway we had a great weekend with the kids.I took my two younger boys to see Fantastic Four movie.The boys loved it.It was okay to me.I wished I hadn't taken my dd because some parts scared her.We also tooked the kids to the park to get wet.My dd loves anything that gets her wet.

Now to crocheting news.Well I have been working on this tank top for several months now.Well I had put it down a few times because I got frustrated with it.So anyway I picked it back up this week and started on the back part.When you are making something you are to pay attention to WHAT SIZE YOU STARTED WITH!!!As you can see in my picture the front is smaller than the back!!!OMG I have to start over with the back part.See I am a very very slow crocheter.Man O Man!!!
In sewing news I had started last week on making a baby blanket for my cousin.I used flannel material to make it with.I always make these blankets for baby gifts.I just cut out 6" by6" squares and sew them together with a3/8 seam.Then I cut out some batting the same size as the blanket.I put the right sides together and sew with 3/8 seam.I leave an opening to turn the blanket on the right side.I hand sew the opening close.Then you are all done. >

Since the kids have been out of school I have been doing a lot of cooking.I have to do lunch now.When they are in school I only have to lunch for me and my dd.Four weeks ago we put in our two gardens.Yes I said two.The reason for two is the kids in the picture below!!Yes I also know how to can food too.My dear mother in law who passed away in November taught me how to can.Not only have I been doing a lot of cooking for some reason, I have had to do a lot of laundry also.I don't know what that's about.I think they are putting clean clothes in the basket.I don't have to do my teenagers clothes he does his own.Well that's life with four kids!

Well I was able to squeeze in some sewing time.This dress is simplicity 3757.This was one of simplicity easy sew patterns.What I liked about this pattern was how they did the hem.I can't remember what type of fabric this was ,but it was light weight.The fabric had embroider flowers on it.I do know that I bought the fabric from JoAnn fabric for a 1.50$ a yard.Sorry about the not so clear pictures.I am still learning how to take good pictures.You can click on the picture to see it better.

My sweet niece finally graduated from high school.She graduated with a 3.5 grade point she has never been below that.She was president of her honors society.She will be going to the University of Michigan.I am so proud of her she worked so hard.

I finally pick back up on the tank top I was crocheting.When I was shaping the top part of the tank it wasn't looking right so I took it down and started on the back part of the tank top.I am going to give another try.I am a slow crocheter.I am going to try and get this done by the end of the month.

O O how I love to make super simple patterns.I had some yellow cotton fabric in my stash.I made me simple skirt with it Simplicity 4045 view C.After I made the skirt my dd said mommy I want one too.Now you know I had to make her something.I had enough fabric to make her a dress Simplicity 5531 view A.The skirt was so simple all you needed was a 7 inch zipper and the dress you needed no notions but thread.I love those type of patterns.If you click on the picture you can see it better.

Good Weekend

Yes this weekend I celebrated my 19Th wedding anniversary.We left the kids with my mother for two days!!!

We spent the weekend in Detroit.We had a great time.We went to a couple of Jazz clubs.And yes we got a little tipsy too.We ate at a restaurant called Seldom Blues.This was a very nice place.If you are ever in Detroit you must go there.

Everyone needs a break from your kids sometimes.I enjoyed my two days away, but I was glad to see them when I got back home.

Wow it seems like a while since I last posted.While state final for track season for my son Lawrence is over.His school didn't win state,but they did worked hard at it.My son have decided he want to run summer track this year.Now I must get my mine ready to sit in all that heat for summer track.Anyone who have kids in track knows how long a track meet can last.While I didn't get but one picture of him at state finals.He hates taking picture.So these are the ones I did get.Two of them are him and my dd.

That is him in the sleeveless white t-shirt turning his back on me.

Finally I have Simplicity 3877 done.I had some problems in the skirt part of the dress.I had to add some godets to the skirt and I just couldn't get it right.Looking at my picture of my dress to it doesn't look like the pattern.I am going to try and make this dress again and try and get it right.I will still wear the dress, but like I said mine didn't turn out like the pattern.I looked at some reviews on PR who made this same dress and they didn't have trouble with the skirt part.I love this pattern so that's why I am going to give it another try.If anyone could tell me what I could have done wrong please share????

Sewing projects

Had a very busy holiday.My sister-in-law and brother-in-law came here from Ohio with their three kids.Don't forget I have four of my own.The kids had a great time.I had them all outside most of the time.When they left I had to take a long nap.

Well I was able to get back to sewing after a couple of days.I had been seeing in sales ads and magazines Bermuda shorts.I guess they are back!I had simplicity 3867 D and it had some Bermuda short on it so I had some fabric in my stash so I made them.I don't know what kind of fabric it was but it did have some stretch to it.These short was very easy to make.They are great for the summer so I will make some more later.The tops I have on with the shorts are Simplicity 3956 view C.I made those tops back in December.The changes I made was I didn't use a zipper on the tops.I had alot of trouble with that,so I left an opening and added a button at the top.I would not try this because it is hard to get on.I can get it on because I have a small bust line.

I have been working on simplicity 3877 and the skirt part I am having some trouble.I will finish this dress after the holiday.Maybe I can figure out what I am doing wrong.

Then my dd was not feeling her swim class this week so she cried and cried.The kids in the class is use to her crying.Maybe one day she will enjoy swim class.If you click on the picture you can see it better.Sorry for the bad photo.

We also celebrated my mothers birthday this week before she left to go back to Illinois.She enjoyed that.
My DH decided he wanted to build at deck this week.So my dh and my mothers boyfriend and my brother in law went to home depot and got some wood and started building a deck.I have some photos below.It is looking good.Hopefully they will be done after the holiday.I hope every one have a safe and happy holiday.

Last week I was able to make my dd a outfit for her to wear to a birthday party.The pattern I used was simplicity 4107.I used a stretch denim for the pants. I used some fabric from JoAnn's tutti frutti fabric collection to make the top.The denim I bought it for 1.99 a yard and the top material was 1.99 a yard.The pants was very simple to make I added some stones to them with my Gemagic..The top was not hard to make also.When I had my dd try on the outfit she must of liked it, because she told me she loved me when she had it on.

WOW we had some really bad storms here yesterday.Alot people had trees that had fallen in their yards.We had winds in some areas that was 60 mph.My two younger sons was scared so they went to the basement.It started clearing up about 10:00 last night.

I made this dress for my soon to be 5 years old niece for her birthday.This was a super simple halter dress with a scarf.It is Simplicity 5531.

I hope everyone had a great Mothers day.Well guess what I got for Mothers Day.I GOT A CAMERA!! I end up getting a Kodak c743 I am loving it so far.Well for mothers day I cooked dinner for my sister and mother.I smoke a turkey that was so good.It take a long time, but it is worth wait.We all had a good time together.

I also try my hand at making my sister and mother a mother day card this year.It was fun ,but I have alot to learn about card making.When I went to JOAnns to look at the paper for card making WOW that was alot of paper. I didn't know what to used.So in the picture below is what I came up with. They love their cards.
Yes I have started on making Christmas gifts already.I made this scarf for my 9 year niece. I am looking for a cool crochet hat pattern to make her a hat also.The stitch I used for this scarf is the puff stitch and added the pom pom to it.I don't know if she will like the pom pom on the scarf.
